How do fees work on Fountain?
Some small fees apply to listeners and podcasters to help fund the daily rewards that Fountain pays to listeners and reduce spam.

Fees for listeners
Streaming Payment and Zaps
When you support a podcast, Fountain charges a 4% fee on top of each transaction. The fee applies to every minute you are streaming and every time you zap. The reason the fee is charged on top of each transaction is so that the podcaster receives the full amount you sent. You can reduce this fee to just 1% by signing up to Fountain Premium.
Withdrawals
When you withdraw funds from your wallet, Fountain charges a 1% fee on top. This fee applies to all Fountain users. Make sure your wallet balance is sufficient to cover the fees when withdrawing otherwise the transaction will not be completed.
Fees for podcasters
Streaming Payments and Zaps
When your listeners support your podcast, 1% of the money they send goes to podcastindex.org to help preserve, protect and extend the open, independent podcasting ecosystem. For podcasts that have been claimed on Fountain, another 4% goes to Fountain to help us to continue improving the service we provide for podcasters. These fees are set up as default splits for your podcast.
