How do audience analytics work on Fountain?
Use the Audience tab in Fountain for Podcasters to track downloads over time and understand which apps, countries, and platforms your listeners use.
Fountain's Audience tab helps you understand how your podcast is being downloaded across different apps, countries, and device types.
You can use it to answer questions like:
- How many downloads did my podcast get in the selected time period?
- Is my audience growing or shrinking compared with the previous period?
- Which podcast apps are driving the most downloads?
- Which countries are my listeners downloading from?
- Are people listening mostly on mobile, desktop, or other devices?
Because Fountain's download analytics are IAB compliant, they ensure the highest possible accuracy and reliability.
Overview
The Overview tab shows your total downloads for the selected date range, along with a trend line so you can see how downloads changed over time.
It also shows the percentage change compared with the previous equivalent period. For example, if you are viewing the last 30 days, Fountain compares that with the 30 days before it.
You can also change the chart interval, such as viewing the data daily, to get a closer look at short-term patterns.
Apps
The Apps tab shows which podcast apps and players generated your downloads during the selected date range.
For each app, Fountain shows:
- Total downloads
- Share of total downloads as a percentage
- Change in share compared with the previous equivalent period
This can help you understand where your audience is most active and whether certain apps are becoming more or less important over time.
Countries
The Countries tab shows where your downloads are coming from geographically.
For each country, Fountain shows:
- Total downloads
- Share of total downloads as a percentage
- Change in share compared with the previous equivalent period
This is useful for spotting your strongest markets, tracking international growth, and understanding where promotion may be working.
Platforms
The Platforms tab groups downloads by device type.
As with the other audience views, Fountain shows total downloads, percentage share, and the change compared with the previous equivalent period.
Episode performance over time
Every episode is measured at 24 hours, 7 days and 3 months, so a slow burn is not mistaken for a flop. Older episodes that start climbing again surface on their own, which makes back-catalog momentum easy to spot.
Social post analytics
If you post clips to social channels through Fountain, the views, likes and comments for each post are shown beside the episode the clip came from, and measured against your own recent posts rather than an industry average.
