How does archive search work?

Connect your feed and Fountain transcribes and indexes every episode. The whole back catalog, not a sample, with new episodes indexed as they publish. You do not need to upload transcripts; Fountain transcribes every episode from the audio.

You can search for:

• A half-remembered quote
• Everything a guest said, across every visit
• Every mention of a topic
• Every mention of a sponsor

A search returns the episode, the moment and the time, and you can narrow it to a show, an episode, a guest or a topic. The search itself finds words; when you use an agent, it reads the moments the search returns and judges them, so asking for the funniest moment on a topic works.

What is searchable

Only episodes with an indexed transcript are searchable. Indexing is per-episode, so while your archive is still being processed a search may not reach all of it. Your agent will tell you how much of the archive a search reached, so you know whether a quiet result means the moment does not exist or simply has not been indexed yet.

A moment you find is already placed in the audio and video, so it is one more ask to turn it into a clip.

Archive search works on a show of any size, but the value is depth. The shows that get the most from it have a back catalog too large to hold in your head any more.
