Introducing the Fountain MCP and Skills

Podcasting is hard work: a dozen manual jobs for every episode, spread across tools that don't talk to each other.

You record in one tool, edit in another, publish in a third. Then you pull the transcript, search for the best moments, create the clips, caption them, size them for three platforms, write the posts, schedule them, and check next week whether any of it worked.

We asked our customers what their biggest problem was, and the same two answers came back again and again: more time, and more listeners.

That list above is why they're short of both.

The opportunity

You probably already have an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT, but it probably can’t do the heavy lifting when it comes to running your podcast.

Ask it "what's the best moment from episode 210" and it can probably come up with some ideas for clips, but it can’t edit them, post them, or tell you if they worked.

Every episode you've ever published, every idea your guests have shared, every moment worth clipping: it's all laying idle in your archive, and the most capable tool you own can't touch it.

That's the gap we've now closed.

What we built

Today we're releasing two things.

The Fountain MCP server connects your podcast to your AI agent. MCP (the Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets an agent securely use outside tools - and ours gives your agent your show: your episodes, your transcripts, search across everything you've published, your social channels, and your stats. It can draft and publish episodes, distribute them to every app, and answer any questions about your podcast and how it’s doing.

Fountain Skills are the workflows on top. A skill is a recipe your assistant follows - the accumulated judgment of doing a job many times, documented so an agent can execute it perfectly first time, but customisable so you can tweak it however you like. We're shipping skills for the repetitive and fiddly tasks that fill your week, like finding and editing clips, then posting them on social media.

Together they turn this:

Transcribe → scrub the timeline → mark moments → cut → caption → resize → write posts → schedule

into this:

"Find the five best moments from today’s episode and prepare clips for X, Instagram and YouTube."

That's the whole workflow. One sentence, typed to the agent you already use - Claude Code, Codex, Hermes, OpenClaw, or any other agent that connects via MCP. We also have official plugins for Claude and ChatGPT, so connecting takes a couple of clicks.

What you can ask for today

Connect your show, and each of these is a simple prompt away:

• Find everything you’ve ever said: ask "find every time my guests or I have talked about burnout" and get back the exact moments across every episode, with timestamps.

• Create clips: ask for the best moments and get publish-ready clips - captioned, sized for every platform - with the posts written in your voice.

• Schedule posts: connect X, YouTube and Instagram, and your agent drafts each post and queues it for the right time.

• Publish episodes: hand over the recording, and your agent transcribes it, writes the title and show notes, and schedules the release to every app.

• Understand what's working: ask what worked last week - episodes, clips, downloads, earnings - and what to make next, grounded in your actual numbers rather than assumptions.

Every one of these runs on your podcast, your channels, using real data. That's the difference between an agent that knows about podcasting - and one that knows your podcast.

Put your agent to work on growth

Fountain’s skills can be chained together and run on a daily schedule. Let’s take Daily Growth as an example.

Each morning, your agent reads the news and looks for stories trending today that you’ve already covered in older episodes. It picks the strongest moments, cuts and captions the clips, and drafts the posts for you to review.

Daily Growth is also a self-improving skill. The next day, your agent checks which posts worked and why, then factors these learnings into the next run.

Growing a show this way used to be a daily discipline almost nobody could sustain. Now it's a loop your agent runs, and a quick approval you give while you sip your morning coffee.

You stay in control

One rule runs through everything we've built: agents draft, you approve.

Nothing goes out until you've seen it in your Fountain dashboard and said yes. We think the difference between an assistant and a liability is exactly that gate, and we've built it in as the default rather than an option. This is your show. The agent does the work; you keep the judgment.

And an honest edge: this is new. Skills will occasionally pick a moment you wouldn't have, or caption a phrase imperfectly. That's why the draft gate exists - and why every skill improves with the preferences you set once and keep.

Why nothing else works this way

Plenty of tools will clip a file you upload. Each one is another subscription, another login, another place your content gets copied to. And each one sees a single file, never the show.

Fountain gives your agent the whole show: every episode, every transcript, your channels and your numbers, in one place. That's why one request can run end to end - find the moment, cut the clip, draft the post, check what worked - instead of stopping at the one step a single tool can do.

And because it's all built on an open standard, there's no new app to learn and no assistant we lock you into. The agent you already use becomes fluent in your podcast.
